Aminul, Nadim were sued again for stealing trees, cheating

Former post and telecommunications minister Barrister Aminul Haque was sued in another case at Tanore upzila of Rajshahi, for aiding and abetting stealing and misappropriating government trees.

Harunur Rashid, a farmer of Chanduria village lodged the case with Tanore police station on Monday night accusing Haque, and 4 other BNP men.

Other accused include the ex-BNP minister's close associates Rajshahi district BNP general secretary Shis Mohammad and Chanduria union council chairman Mofiz Uddin.

Following the case, police arrested two accused persons – Keramat, 32, and Abdul Karim, 35, from Deotala village early yesterday.

The plaintiff alleged the ex-minister's men (4 other accused) cut away different kinds of government trees including Epil Epil, Mango and Babla on Ajaripur-Ekhtarpur roadsides during March to June in 2005.

Later, they stole and misappropriate money selling out the trees worth about Tk 1.30 lakh, said the plaintiff.

He also alleged that the accused persons named Aminul Haque to have given them authority on the trees when villagers tried to resist them.

Rashid explained that he could not file the case before in fear of life.

Meanwhile, the ex-minister Aminul Haque was accused in two other cases in Bagmara upazila for aiding militants of banned Jama'atul Mujahidin, Bangladesh and his loyalist Shis Muhammad was also accused in one the cases.

Another former BNP stalwart Nadim Mostafa of Puthia-Durgapur constituency was sued on Monday for misappropriating Tk 1 lakh through cheating in the name of providing job.

One Haji Moksed Ali of Bhallukgachhi village in Puthia filed the case accusing 3 others – the upazila BNP vice president Abdul Hamid's brother Abdul Mazid, Bhallukgachhi union bNP general secretary Nazmul Gani Pintu and Drarampur college principal Omar Ali.

Moksed alleged that Nadim Mostafa, also the college governing body president and Omar Ali took Tk 1 lakh from him for providing his son Golam Mostafa a lecturer's job at Dharampur College.

As the accused persons failed to provide job, they did not returned the money, alleged the plaintiff adding that the former lawmaker drove him away threatening when he went to him for getting back the money.
