Case against Nadim Mostafa
Former BNP lawmaker Nadim Mostafa and 11 other of his thugs were sued in a fresh extortion case at Puthia police station of the district on (July 2 ) Monday.
Recording the case, police yesterday arrested 7 accused including former Puthia municipal administrator and local BNP president Abdul Latif Biswas.
Other arrested BNP adherents are Mohsin, Gaus, Idris, Sohrab, Abul Kashem and Mohidul.
Other accused are municipal BNP secretary Munsur Rahman, BNP adherents Joynal, Isa Khalipha and Hashem Ali.
Meanwhile, Nadim Mostafa, already accused in total 11 cases including four for helping and abetting JMB militants, is absconding since January. In a cheating case, he was jailed for 5 years and he was acquitted in a relief fund CI sheet misappropriation case.
Rofikul Islam of Paschimbhag village lodged the case and alleged that the accused persons demanded Tk 40,000 toll from him going to his house on September 17, 2005 for holding a party function.
He became afraid and sought one month's time for providing the toll. But the accused persons in collusion with each other attacked him on directives of Nadim Mostafa.
They damaged Rofikul's motorcycle and hospitalised him beating.
The plaintiff explained that he lodged the case witnessing a fear-less political atmosphere at present.

Charges framed against Dulu, 93 others in Natore
The court of Natore district and session judge yesterday framed charges against former BNP deputy minister Ruhul Kuddus Talukhdar Dulu and 93 other accused under explosives act for using gunpowder in arson and looting at Naldanga villages in 2004.
Dulu, along with 23 other arrested persons were produced before the court during charge framing. The judge Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan has scheduled July 8 to start trial in the case.
They arrested accused include Dulu's brothers -- Nabi Talukhdar, Rafik Talukhdar, cousins -- Atikur Rahman, Nurunnabi Talukhdar, Abidur Rahman, Mojibor Rahman, nephews -- Rentu, Belal, Helal and Bulbul, nephew-in-law Rahim Newaz, Natore municipal ward commissioners Sadrul Huda Dambel and Nasim Khan.
Meanwhile, the court of additional district magistrate Rawnak Mahmud in Natore recorded three witnesses Feroza Begum, Abdul Momin and Jaheda Begum in other part of the case for charges of arson and looting. The court also hears witnesses today.
Natore district Jatiya Chhatra Samaj president Asaduzzaman Shah filed the case with Naldanga police station on February 25 accusing total 105 persons.
Two months later on May 3, officer-in-charge of Naldanga PS Arman Hossain submitted two separate charge sheets one for arson and looting and another under explosives act accusing total 94 persons.
According to charges, the accused persons launched a series of attacks at Ramsa Kazipur (Dulu's home village), Shahpara and Amtali Bazar on Dulu's directives to retaliate murder of his nephew Sabbir Ahmed Gama on February 7 in 2004,.
Hearing the murder news, Dulu rushed to the scene and began the attacks torching Asaduzzaman's straw-made-house himself.
In a couple of days, some 37 households and shops were torched spraying gun-powder and belongings of these houses were looted and damaged.
Dulu's armed cadres unleashed a reign of terror in the areas blasting bombs and firing gunshots, it was said in charge sheets.
